Guys, I have a 2001, 250 super duty power stroke with 97K miles. I bought it new never had a problem before.
It will start and runs fine for two minutes. Shuts off just like you turned it off. It will not start again for about 6 to 8 hours. It will run again for about 2 min. again and just shuts off. The fuel is clean and the filter has been replaced. Seems like it is temprature related.
Help!!!!!!!!
Down in Ohio.
Is that the Crank or Cam Senser? If so what resets? It seems to be temprature sensitive. After it shuts down it takes 6 -8 hours for it to restart, I tried every hour yesterday. It wouldnt even try to start, after about 8 hours it started right up just like there was nothing wrong and then quit again after 2 minutes.
While the PSD needs oil pressure to run the injectors, it doesn't have a switch like some cars that shuts down the fuel pump.
I second the CPS (Cam position sensor) suggestion. Can you scan it to see if it has any codes? PO341 would be the one to see to help confirm CMP. It isn't resetting, it's just flaky.

My mistake. I thought I remember reading somewhere that the PSD will shut itself down in an attempt to prevent itself from self destruction if there is low oil pressure.
