Just bought 2nd Powerstroke

Long time GM/Chevy fan here. Got tired of driving around nervous that my 6.5TD was going to leave me stranded, so started searching for something newer. Duramaxes were too expensive, so I found an 02 F250 7.3. Turned out to be a great truck. Kept it for a year, then decided it was _too_ nice to be treated like a truck and I found myself never wanting to have it do any real work. So I started my search for something "less nice."

Found a 95 Chevy K2500 with a 6.5. It's my 4th 6.5 and you would think I would have learned my lesson after the first 3. Have already had 2 close calls on that truck plus $800 in maintenance just to be able to drive it to the DMV. I've only driven it 60 miles since I bought it. Anyway, it reminded me why I tried to get away from the 6.5s in the first place. Sure, they are inexpensive to acquire (for good reason) but you never know when it's going to strand you or completely destroy itself.

Fast forward to last week. I have been looking for a 97 F250 crew cab 7.3L for a while. Finally found one and worked out a deal on it on Satruday. Tranny was recently rebuilt and it's already got most of the mods I would have liked to have done (Edge chip and exhaust). It has a few negatives - it's light blue with blue interior. I will miss my 02's gray/black ext with gray leather interior, but I won't miss worrying about the dogs on the leather in the back seat!

Anyway - there are a couple of things I'd like to upgrade, but I'm not sure where to look. It doesn't have a sliding rear window, and I'd really like one. How hard are they to add? Also, is there any way to retrofit power mirrors instead of the cheesy manual ones? And lastly, is there any way to put a console in these trucks?

Thanks!
Ryan

Hello Ryan and Welcome!

There is a lot of information in the tech forums about your truck. Click on the tech forums and scroll over the list. I would start in the 7.3 engine forum and the Super Duty forum. Try those out and see if you learn a lot about your truck.

Enjoy the site!
