Power steering pump question

Ok, so changing the pump was no big deal. Today I decided to take an hour out of my day and relocate the PS cooler from it's current location atop the York A/C compressor, which was useless out of any airflow, to just below the garvel pan, in fairly clean airflow. 5 hours later, I got the mounting bracket welded up, and the whole works re-plumbed. Man, 5/16 trans hose is a BEAR to "slip" over 5/16th barbed nipples. I'm still not sure I got them on far enuf. I never really noticed b4, but that whole PS assembly gets H-O-T!! I won't bore bore you with pics unless you want them.

I had to do a replacement hose on my son's TBird SC and I agree about the hose fit over fittings. I spent an hour to get one hose onto a fitting. I was told they are made to be assembled by a machine and the tight fit eliminates the need for a clamp. Add to that the fact your hands are always slick with that nasty red fluid, it's a frustrating job.
