I need to order the IRS cross member for my 50f1 with 78 JAG IRS but they need to know what the angle is 0, 4, or 6, How do I know what I need. ..........RUSTY
You need your engine and trans installed to find the angle that the rear pinion is to be set to. If the engine-trans angle is 4 degrees, then the pinion angle should be the same.

It is easier to set the pinion angle if you install the engine and transmission first. If you aren't ready to install the engine and transmission you can always install the rear end without welding the perches and tighten the U-bolts to hold it in place until you get the engine installed. Then loosen the U-bolts and rotate the rear end to get the proper angle before welding the perches on. If they are already welded on then your only alternative is shims. I haven't dealt with IRS before so that may be a different can of worms...
GreatNorthWoods There are no perches to weld the cross member has a plate in the center with 4 holes. The chunk bolts to the plate. The cross member is 3 1/2 by 3 1/2 sq. tubing that has to be cut to fit between the boxed frame. ..........RUSTY
It's always best to mount the engine and trans first to get your reference angle (as has been posted here already)...if you choose to mount your IRS first then go with the 4 degree angle and adjust your engine/trans angle to match. Most intake manifolds are designed to set your carburetor at level with the engine mounted at a 4 degree tailshaft-down orientation.
CharlieLed Does this include Tune Port Induction as well? .....RUSTY
NO. The EFI engines don't have floats and float bowls that need to be kept level. They are much more tolerant of 0 degree (level) and up to 6 degree installation angles.
