I used a 130A alternator out of a 3.0 Taurus from the junkyard ($15) and robbed the pigtail with teh connectors as well. Search around on the Mustang forums as well. Several have done this mod and it's worth it

Hello,
I see you have a 88 F150 with 302.
Is this 130A alt. from the Tarus used in this truck?
I was wondering if this same 3.0L Tarus alternator would work with my 91 F150 with 302?

Yes, it is the same alternator that is used ona 3.0L Taurus and it will work on your truck. Just be careful when you do get one. There are two different sizes (7" bolt centers and 8" bolt centers I think). The Smaller bolt center is the one that works with the factory alternator bracket (bracket will have to have one brace cut out of it for fitment). Just be sure to get some 4 gauge cable and a megafuse (200A) and holder (both from a car audio store) and chunk the little black orange wires from the system. here is a write up I did for my truck on a local forum for a better understanding:

is it a 130 amp or 95 amp? one post said 130 one post said 95.
I used a 95A alternator at first from a Ford Areostar van w/ 3.0 V6 (couldn't find the 130A on the first round, plus I needed the truck fixed ASAP) and went back a few weeks later and found a 130A from the Taurus. Wiring is the same for both and all I had to do is up the mega fuse from 150A to 200A when I changed to the higher amp alternator. If you do this , again, ditch the black /orange wires from the 2G setup. They are too small of a gauge to use for this type of output and can cause a fire.
