A/T Shifter cable replacement

I have a 3.0 liter 1997 Ranger reg cab 2wd with 175000 and the shifter cable today. I can't find any directions that make any sense in the Haynes. I need any help possible PLEASE

I was also hoping that someone might have had to price this part before and since the dealers are closed I can't get a clue here
