The balancer could have separated. The rubber disintegrates, then the outer portion of the damper "walks away" from the inner portion. The damper could be on backwards, or whatever aftermarket gears you replaced the originals with could be too wide. Did you compare them with the originals before installing them?
Most of the outer crank (6312 or 6A312) and waterpump (8509), alternator (10A310) and other pulleys are marked with Ford ID numbers. Waterpump pulley example: D0OE-8509-AA. What's the ID # on your waterpump pulley?
Well guys I dont think there is any probs with damper and it is impossible that it is on backwards if it was the pulley wouldnt bolt on you can tell by looking at the back of pulley that is how it was before,"you can see a outline" damper is not damaged either at least not yet hehehe. I can not remember if I compared the geardrive to the original set but I would say I did I am pretty sure I did because the geardrive had different settings to advance or retard I am almost certain I compared them and the crank geardrive gear would have to be thinner not fatter for this to happen because the crank pully is the one that is not out far enough. my pully numbers are: water pump pulley1VE-8509, Crank pulley: DOSE-6312-B and I will list more pics in a sec on my other computer. The only thing I can say at this point is that the crank geardrive gear must have been thinner than the original chain gear I dont know what else it could be. Thanks P.S. it is off by .250 of an inch so it looks like I will have to make a 1/4" shim.
I am trying to get more photos for you guys in here but am having trouble I measured from the oil sling to the end of my crank and I got approx. 4&3/16" does anyone have one apart? I measured with a scale
This is all I know that I can do somewhere I lost a 1/4" I think I get 4&3/16" from the oil sling to the end of the crank shaft. anyone have a different measurement for me?
Is theat the original water pump?
Or did you get a remanufactured one?
If it is remanufactured, the high school dropout or the illegal immigrant that was reassembling it may not have done it right.
Compare the length of the water pump shaft, from the casting to the face of the threaded plate, where the pulley mounts.
See if yours has the same length as Dennis' for example.
banjopicker66 it is the original water pump as far as I know. I amnot sure though I guess it could be a possibility but I did drive the other truck home that had this engine in it,so I know the pump has not been changed since then I just painted it, and the belts stayed on just fine! they wernt as tight as I usually have my belts but they stayed on, I dont know if the belt would even stay on if I put them on right now, the pulleys are out of alighnment by at least a 1/4" I would of thought I would have noticed that when I basically rebuilt the motor but I really wasnt paying attension to the pullies since I didnt know I had a problem but now it is real noticable! so I just dont know
