82 F150, 81 300cid C6 auto. Installing clifford manifold with edelbrock 1404 carb. Anyone installed before? Haven't figured out best way to get kickdown linkage to the carburetor. Besides different(and larger)carb body, the edelbrock puts the kickdown in front of the carb. Same with throttle, but since that is a cable I can fabricate a bracket easily.
Having same problem with kickdown, but since the AOD is going in next week, finally, decided not to worry about it. I do have help for the throttle bracket however, I mounted mine directly to the intake using the two through holes that normally bolt the intake to the stock exhaust. This is an Offie C type intake. I have another pic that I will post for you that shows the other side with the bracket. You will need to do some serious jetting on this carb for the 300 engine. I will get those rod and jet numbers if you need them.

Hi Mstrawn, would you mind if I posted that picture of your motor on my website? I have an engine pics section that I would like to post it in. Your motor looks great! Here's a link to my site:

Of course you can use post the picture. I would be proud to have pics of my truck used. Michael Strawn

Great looking engine. I cross posted this question on the 300cid board and a guy from oklahoma posted pictures of his solution to the kickdown. Looks fairly simple. Found out there is a longer throttle cable identicle except length. $21 at auto zone; their p/n CA8459. Yes I would like those jet and rod sizes please. One of the guys at clifford performance claims the edelbrock 500cfm is jetted perfectly for the 300. I won't know until I try it. By the formulas it is too big, but there is a lot of contradictory info out there. 300cid X 4000rpm/3452=347cfm X 80%VE=278cfm. I was intending to use the 390 cfm. I was convinced by other sources to consider a bored ported 309cid X 6000rpm/3452=537cfm X 80%VE=429cfm. Some sources recommend 130-150% over that (stock engines certainly seem to) 429cfm X 130%=558cfm. Bottom line-numbers don't run. What carb are you running and how well does it run? Sorry to ramble on; I'm trying to convince myself I haven't made an expensive pain in the --- error to correct. thanks again for the reply and appreciate the jet info in case I need it
Wanted to let you know how I came up with the jetting and metering that I am using now. When I installed my headers on the truck, I put some 2 1/2 " reducers behind the 3" collectors on the headers. The reducers have some spark plug bungs welded into them. I screwed some 02 sensors (single wire) into the bungs and extended the wires so that I could get them into the cab. When I want to check the exhaust, I just plug the Digital volt meter into the wire and ground the other lead of the meter. After warm up, the 02 is just a dumb sending unit that reads the temp of the exhaust gases. Check this site: http://www.bob2000.com/carb.htm
Any way, I found that the springs for the metering rod system were dead on for my engine which pulls 19 inches of vacuum at idle. Changing the springs has the same result as changing the power valve on a holley. I am currently running .077 jets primary and secondary with .055 metering rods. Rod springs are the stock orange color. The original metering setup on the Edelbrock performer series is a little rich for an engine that is internally stock.
With this setup, I am maintaining about 750 millivolts during cruise mode, and it tips up to about 800 during power mode.
Hope that this gives you a little help. Wanted to get this off to you now. I will get the pic of the throttle bracket this afternoon. Have to wait until my son get off of his pc as the digital camera makes mine choke. Michael Strawn.
