iat sensor?

Alright i have a 1995 f-150 with a 302 in it. I know theres the maf conected to the air box but then theres this other sensor thats mounted to the side of the air box. Is this the iat sensor? Has anyone installed a resistor to change the air temperature to gain hp? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Nick

Not sure about MAF but on SD engines the IAT sensor is screwed into the intake manifold.

That is indeed the inlet air temperature sensor in the side of the air box. I would not waste any time, money, or fuel mileage on a resistor. You'll just end up causing problems trying to trick the computer. Plus, once it goes into closed loop, you'll end up with the exact same air/fuel ratio as before, and timing is not likely to change much either. No gain at all, basically.
