hi everyone, i have a 76 f150 4x4 that i want to powder coat the frame and a few other things and was wondering if you all could give me a round about cost ? i know prices will be different in different areas im just looking for a round about price . thanks
I am pretty sure powder coating has to be baked on. So doing a frame would be VERY VERY expensive. Not to mention the time involved. But I could be wrong.
Maybe just call around? I had my rims powdercoated by FTE member "pickupbuilder" but I traded him, so there was no money involved. I do know that some powders are more money than others, and some cover better than others, so it is hard to give you a good dollar amount. I would think that something like a basic color would be less than a translucent or candy.
Since it takes heat to cure the powder coat the smaller items could be placed in an over, the frame you may check see if able to rent couple 'high intensity' Medium Wave heat lamps. The body tools catalog I have list the cheapest going for around $160 and it's only single lamp.
Otherwise, as noted, shop around although cheapest is not necessarily the best.
