Hey yall i know theres been some other threads about this but i searched and cant find anything that helps me. Well ive got a 97 f150 4x4 and it has no tow hooks on it and i want to put some on so i have a good recovery point up front which i dont now, not sure itd be a great idea to hook up to my brush guard for a recovery point lol, anyways my question is what would be the best way to put some tow hooks on there, i have a grille guard up front which is bolted the frame obviously so thats kinda causing me some problems, any thoughts or suggestions?
They were probably removed to install the grill guard if it bolts up to the front frame rails. This is where the factory ones go. I'm not sure where else you could put them. They need to be bolted to the frame.
is there any other way to have any type of recovery point up front, i might take off the grille guard because it is starting to rust out a little but i dont think im going to soon, is it safe to hook up to it?
Hook up to the grill guard? No. When I had grill guards installed on my truck I made sure they allowed the tow hooks to stay. Some grill guards require the removal of the hooks.
well the one i have now the bottum is kinda beat up, tried going over a few too many stumps and rocks up at the hunt camp but i guess thats what its for, and its starting to rust out pretty good so i might buy a new one, i have a black truck with stainless or chrome parts in some spots which makes it pop real nice so id like to get a new one but i want it stainless steel so it wont rust but will still make my truck look good, know of any that let me keep towhooks? i guess i will just have to go check out the junkyards and find some towhooks
I bought my last grill guard off the Shop tab at the upper right. My original grill guard saved my truck from a deer at 70 mph. I went through this sites online store and found a guard that allowed the tow hooks. You can find them.
yeah i definatly want to have one on there, my uncle hit a deer and the guard saved his truck, thats when my dad put this one on, we havent hit anything with really yet but it also comes in handy when ur riding through the woods and need to put down a small tree or a bush or something. i'll check out the websites on here thanks for the help
