Does anyone here have information about the quality of Diesel Fuel? What I'm wondering in particular is about the Flying J brand of fuel. Flying J is significantly cheaper than other brands here, but I'm not familiar with it.
What I'm wondering is what the difference in quality if any is between say Esso, Chevron, Shell, Mowhawk/Husky, Flying J, and the other major brands?
Typically speaking, most of the fuel comes from the same source - it is piped from the refineries across the us to local tank farms. All local stations sell fuel that came out of the same pipeline.
I'm not sure about diesel, but the only difference between different brands of gasoline is in the additive packages that are proprietary to the oil companies. These are added at the time that the the fuel is loaded into the tanker trucks for delivery to the station.
Re Flying J - I've never had a problem with it. It's best to purchase your fuel from higher volume stations (less chance of contaminants).
