Hi all I am a new owner of a 51 F-3 and was wondering if any one could tell me if the flat bed that came with the truck could be factory. It is in bad shape but i am hopeing if salvige the vary back steel that has raised lettering that says Ford Truck. Did ford ever stamp this into flat beds?
Thank You for your help
Big Dave
You will need to post some pictures of the truck as well as the flat bed so some of the more seasoned peopole on here can give you an informed answer. I woul talk you through posting pictures but it is something that I still struggle with so I would hate to lead you down the wrong track.
By the way welcome to the forums there are lots of good folks on here with tons of advice so you've come to the right place.
thank you kusto I will be picking the truck up next mon and will post pix of her. Also is the f-3 cab the same size as the f-1 and f-2 cabs? What are the main differenses?
Thanks

Cabs are the same from F1-F8 trucks. COE cabs are different in the lower front half.
Good to see another '51 F3, I am fairly sure mine always had a flatbed although it does not have the stock one on right now. I wish I had the Ford script to weld onto it at the very least.
Galaxie, I do have a ford script that had been cut out of the tailgate by the PO of my truck. It needs a little hammer/dolly work and has a hole drilled in it that would need to be weld filled. If you are interested I could ship it to you if you pay the shipping.
As far as the main diference between the F1-3 is the wheel opening in the front fender to accomodate the larger diamiter tires on the F-3 trucks. I believe the fenders are also wider when you get up into the F-4 to F-8 trucks.
i have an f3 with a flatbed also, its an 8 footer, iguess all f3's had 8ft beds. anyway, it for sell and has pretty decent metal, i can e-mail you some pic's tommorow if your interested. i think i have most if not all the sideboard support too
Where in Wisconsin are you located? I have a Ford flatbed on my F-4, same as the F-3 except it's a 9 footer. I don't want to sell it but if you want to come look at it to see what it looks like let me know.
That isn't a stock bed for a '48-52 truck. It's a stock Ford bed but for an older Ford truck, I have seen these on Model AA trucks. I personally like the "Ford Truck" better than just the "Ford". I assume Ford deleted the "Truck" to save money on stamping.
I see chrome windshield revel mouldings and what appears to be a factory clock in the dash. The radio is from a 1952 Ford passenger car. Was this the same radio the trucks used? Don't all these things point to a 5 Star Cab? If so, is that a rarity on an F3?
The Ford script bed is definitely early. That style of script was used from roughly 1914 to around 1934.
