Guys im going to be driving "in my 2005 SD V10 =)" to Yellowstone National Park next month and would like to install a camcorder on my dashboard question is that would the video come out right?
Im going to get a camcorder that uses a hard drive to record video, it also has Image Stabilization. Do you think this would work?
Thanks again ~Gage~
The camera should work just fine, but I've been through Yellowstone many times and 1, most of the really cool stuff is either off to the side of the road a ways, or 2, you need to actually hike to see them (the best stuff anyway). All you're going to record from a dash unit is the endless stream of traffic and the vehicle right in front of your bumper...
You will find that even with IS, your images will reflect every bump and jitter of the road. Your head is the best place to mount a camera..near perfect stabilization...try a cheapo lipstick or bullet cam mounted to your hat.
All had the camera mounted to my rollbar so they do bounce around a bit. I have never seen a skip in the video due to a bump. The camera is over 4 years old and still running like a champ.

Awesome car.
So you were there the weekend that Mike P pancaked his Camaro in the wall at Cali Speedway entering the front straight, right?
FWIW ... I use a mini-DV camcorder and I/O port mount for my roll bar as well. But being as this guy has no roll bar ...
And the SD/CF card cameras typically record in MPEG4 which is HIGHLY compressed. Consequently, the image quality suffers.
