I think he's full of it. But I could be wrong.
1st I'm not aware that Ford ever offered a convertible pickup.
2nd that roll bar looks very flimsy
3rd Image the liability in a roll over accident with that kind of setup.
4th My 1976 service manual lists an F-140 as a F-150 4X4.

Cool looking convertible truck. I think this is a call for NumberDummy. Maybe he can authenticate this "rare" vehicle. Cause I've never heard of one.

Like I said, I think all F-150 4x4s had the F-140 desigation in the vin.

You don't need numberdummy for this

How about me ?

F140 is the body GVWR code for 6050 lbs for a 1978/1979 F150 4x4 Pickup .

Nothing more.

Sorry Buddy on E-Pray...No such thing this Convertible.

The build code is F14 (in the VIN #) which means a F-150 4x4 regular Cab "Pickup"

Some people get so overzealous with this code numbers on these rating plates

ie:
F14
F15

F-100
F-150
F-250

X14
X15
X25
X26

etc

Mil1ion, I ask your forgiveness. No slight was intended. In my sporadic typing style I could only think of one person while hunting and poking at my keyboard. In general I am not specific person, it's just to dangerous

Does anyone else have this F140 on their plate? We should email him a bunch of pics of these plates and let him see how rare his truck is.
I do think if it runs and looks like he claims, it is worth what he's asking. I'd like to see some closeups of the convertable mod.

Yes thousands of people.

People who have a 1978/1979 F150 4x4 reg cab with a GVWR of 6050 lbs

I have the distinct feeling he is ASSUMING the F140 is a model code. BUT it is in fact a Reg cab Pickup code for the GVWR of 6050 lbs.

again, there is NO F-140 Model

The Top from the BRONCO was removable and could LOOK like a convertible. But the VIN# would be U15 if it was a bronco.

This truck on Ebay was made this way by someone other than Ford.

Also,The E-Bay person selling this truck has been notified of this error

Maybe the F-150 badge on the cowl is a dead givaway that it is not an F-140.

Good luck getting a responce from him Dennis. I emailed him 2 days ago telling him about the truck not being factory and requested to see a copy of the build sheet he has and still have not got it. Below was his responce to my email.

Ford did'nt make a convertible F-series. This guy is trying to sell something to an unsuspecting buyer and he know's it.

HI SCOTT, I THANK-YOU FOR YOUR CAREFUL CHOICE OF WORDS WHEN ASKING QUESTIONS. YES I WOULD BE HAPPY TO E-MAIL YOU A COPY OF THE FACTORY ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER,BUT I WILL NEED AN E-MAIL ADDRESS

PLEASE SEE THE PIUCTURE OF THE FACTORY FORD DOOR TAG.

I would really like to see that window sticker.

Dennis your probably gonna be waiting for awhile I still haven't gotten one from him yet either, and for grins and giggles I sent him an "original" window sticker showing a 2005 mustang with a 427 in it, and informed him that can be fabricated just exactly like the truck is and that although it appears to be a really nice looking ride, selling it as a factory original item when it is in fact an after market really gives automotive enthusiasts a bad name and please just be honest about it.
