I have an automatic transmission on my way home today everything was working fine then all of a sudden while pulling out from a stop sign my truck would no longer shift at all.....I pulled off the road and then tried reverse....no reverse at all....the seedomoter was working fine...the OD light was blinking...did not overheat the tranny only around 170........any ideas????????
I assume you tried manual 1 & 2 using the shift lever, and checked the fluid level in Park.
My shop manual (early 99) lists a PO781 and a PO783 as solenoids and other internal components and a flashing OD light. I don't see a 782 in my manual, but it's almost 10 years old.
I also found this in my manual. No forward and no reverse gives no electrical causes, and the hydraulic/mechanical routine #307 says check fluid level and converter drain back valve. It says inspect valve and perform a drain back test. If the main pump seal went, I think you should be leaking fluid?
I believe he has one forward gear.I think he is saying it won't shift into higher gears. If I am mis reading I apologize

Check the two electrical plugs, one near the shift lever on the drivers side and the other main plug on the passenger side for water or other damage. Try 1st and 2nd using the lever.
No, the only potential problem there is with the wire going to the OD switch, and that's not your problem.
Crawl under the truck and find the tranny, and first look at the drivers side where the shift linkage bolts to the tranny case. There's an electrical plug hooking into the switch there that sends gear selection info to the PCM. On the passenger side, up high where it's hard to see, is the main harness to the tranny. That connector is an upside down cup that will hold water if any gets in there and cause shifting problems. I know this because it's happened to me.
