But feeling the TQ clutch letting go should not be noticed as the coast clutch has not been activated so the trans should let the engine drop some serious rpm's any time the throttle is let go, regardless if the torque converter letting go or not, and you are coasting in drive and the OD cancel light is off.
To notice if the TQ is still locked up, as you come to a stop in first gear it will feel just like a manual trans in first gear and you forgot to step on the clutch, and the engine will lug and die as you stop.

RPM's would drop and you would not notice the TQ clutch remaining locked or letting go.

You don't have to let Ford rebuild it, just have a scan run.
The "state of the art" $75 scanner I used (late 80's and early 90's) when working at the dealership is now like a model "A" compared to the (supercharged EFI) $100,000 S.B.D.S. scanner set up they use now!

Since the PCM runs both the engine and the transmission, codes can be retrieved for both from the same place. I should have thought to ask this earlier, but you did pull the codes, right Chris?
