I am going to go out back and pull Ignition Harness off a 88 and put a 88 Distributor in my Sun Distrib-A-Scope. Hook up the harness, a coil & battery to it with and with out a computer hook to it and do some tests with a Break-out box, scope, test light and meters.
The test set-up has good spark. Put three different test lights on the coil TACH terminal.
The Snap-On test light just glowed with no flashes and no change to the spark. It has a long type bulb in it.
A low cost Test light with a large bulb in it was Bright and flickering and the spark was good but you could tell some difference in it (Maybe I should have reduced the Rpm’s of the distributor).
A KD test light with a small bulb flashed with good spark.
Unhooked the Computer and the spark remained good with on change.
The only time I lost spark was when I unhooked the ground wire from the distributor.
