sorry for lack of knowledge on this but whats a spout?
and yes ill double check that
im appreciating the help alot.
SPOUT - Spark Output Signal from EEC
There is a jumper in this wire when it is pulled out you disconnect the EEC Computer from the Ignition System.
You pull out this jumper any time that you set the timing.
The test light should be on until the TFI grounds it then the light will go out completely.
Thanks for that clarification. I guess that the resistance of the light isn't the same as just shorting that to ground, which is what worried me. What you said makes sense now...
yeah. thats what i meant. for now on ill say ground. lol.
but if i have no flashing from the light that means i need to check my ignition module wiring harness right? i checked it earlier (off the haynes manual) and thought it was alright but i should recheck it.
Is the Distributor turning when you crank the engine?
Is the Distributor grounded good? (The ground for the Ignition System is inside the Distributor)
I will get back with you in a few days.
I am going to go out back and pull Ignition Harness off a 88 and put a 88 Distributor in my Sun Distrib-A-Scope. Hook up the harness, a coil & battery to it with and with out a computer hook to it and do some tests with a Break-out box, scope, test light and meters.
it does. i looked at it with the cap off while it was turning over. and when i did the test for the harness the volt meter was put on the distributor for the ground. and it was grounded.
when i move around the distributor (like as im going to set the timing) with key on it will make noises (something eletrical, sounds kinda like a fuel pump when you first turn the key). does this mean its working alright?

well so far the FORD DEALERSHIP has run a diagnositic test on it. and the only thing they are saying is that its probably a burnt out wire or one of the wires on the harness grounded out.
WELL NO ****!
i pretty much couldof told them that lol. and they havent called me back saying what was wrong yet. so ill keep yah updated.
o yeah and they're saying the truck is soo old that they dont even have a wiring diagram for it anymore. WTF???
o well. i couldnt find it out and apparently they're still looking for the problem. and im sure that they can fix it.
well... at least in another 20 years when the ignitoin system finally fails i will know what to do. (if i remember) this trucks ben great really except for this problem.
