timing question
Just replaced i.p. and all injectors in my 94' turbo. It had bb injectors in it and replaced them with g code and a 5069 pump, milage was around 10 mpg.On setting the timing with cold advance on i set it with a pretty good power stroke rattle that mostly goes away after warm up.The problem is i am getting a little black smoke at idle and wonder if the timing is off a little and which way to turn the i.p. to advace or retard the timing.
Since you still have a slight rattle after warmup, I would try to retard it just a little bit. Other that idle, how does it run and drive?
My hunch is that the CDR valve may also need to be serviced. My truck was also throwing a little smoke at idle, and soaking the CDR in gas overnight was the fix.

runs and drives great,milage seems to have improved but will be sure at my next fill up. Which way do i turn the i.p. to adjust? As far as the cdr i cleaned it out about 5k ago but i'll do it again it can't hurt
