Well the wife and I are taking the kids to El Paso on the 28th for a week to visit her family, should be fun only 989 miles from here...... Well at least I will see what my towing mpg will be after the ebps and tube get replaced and the new pump gains and also my new dp-tuner oredering that on monday!!!!!! should be loads of fun at least it wont be hotttttt . Also gonna switch to synthetic oil and ATF. Should be a good long distance test for the ole girl, since I've had her anyway.
Only another 800 miles to Houston. Stop by and I will have the beer cold.
Have a good trip. Watch for USAF fighters there near Gila Bend, AZ. Everytime I roll through there I see fighters out playing over the desert. Very cool.
Also, watch for the GIANT roadrunner alongside the freeway in Las Cruces, NM. The kids will get a kick out of it.
Lastly, stay out of Jaurez Mexico. It's just over the border from El Paso. Lots of people get tempted to go there but take my advice and don't. It's bad news.
dont worry I grew up in riverside and went to T.J. to party all the time......fast forward, now I'm older and wiser and have no need to go to Mexico at all everything I want is here! Besides my wife wont let me go over the border anyway!

Don't you mean watch for your truck so that it doesn't get stolen? I've been to El Paso. Rental companies are very strict about what you can do with a rented SUV, even if it is a Suburban. Nice town otherwise though, lol. That is one big Mexican flag if it is still there in Juarez.
My wifes family is "protected" in their nieghborhood.....grandma used to feed and house all the punks growing up, now she and the family are off limits! Wow what fun eh
Plan your fuel stop for Road Forks, New Mexico...there is a Truckstop of America (T/A) at the exit (5 miles east of the Arizona line - 170 miles from El Paso). Cheapest fuel on I-10 from Tucson to El Paso.

thanks for the tip, I will be mapping it. Any body else with fuel stop tips? thanks all!
well got back friday, 2600 miles, 11.5mpg, and loads of fun, I hate to admit it but I liked El Paso. we dont have such big skies like that in cali, we hit Cattlemans out by Fabens and it was great food. The kids got a kick out of the coyotes eating with us! Nm and norhtern AZ are frickin beautiful. Flagstaff was the best. I gotta say who ever doesnt visit the grand canyon your missing out on one of Gods great wonders!!! Albuquerque was a great town. If you cant tell I love desert scapes!
P.S. hey OUTLAW you're right about that big *** flag in Juarez! Overall it was a fun roadtrip and lts of great family memories!!!!!!!!!!

That would be me. That is still the biggest flag I have ever seen. Of course there is a big TX flag replica on the hillside along I10 that is lit up nicely at night IIRC. And that is beautiful country down there. Of course spend enough time there and like me, I want to see trees and grass and whatnot. Glad the trip went well. Welcome home.
doh....sorry tenn, did you drive through at night and see the lit up picture of pres juarez that looks like homer simpson!
It's been about 10 years since I was there and I do not remember Homer. I do remember thinking Damn, that Mexican flag is way too big until I saw the lit up Tx flag on the hillside at night. I thought, cool. All those folks in Juarez could just stare at that at night.
Well it appears the allure is too much these days. Everyone here knows what I am talking about. Frankly, I am getting tired of it. I am ready to call my Congressional reps. I've had enough. Sorry for the rant.
