Karl, are you saying that I sould keep using the SSR"s on the front and use boggers on the back? the SSR's are 35x10.5x16, should I run the same size on the rear or should I go to something like 35x14x16?
There is a little diff in the type of mud too. I am not worried about getting too deep and getting stuck, its just not that deep, its all about time/speed. So maybe I do need to go with the boggers all the way around. What to you think?
Drags are all about traction, you have more than plenty power to turn 35" boggers and you're tires will never be floating on top with your power level (once iyou start getting into the 600 range with a lightweight rig then you start to float on top), go boggers on all 4 corners first, then change gearing to follow if you don't like the rpms you're running.
What Mustang said! Try the Boggers on all 4 corners to see how it works for you. The only thing you want to decide on is size and width. Like I said earlier, I have bee nexperimenting with different setups. my 33's are 14.5 wide, my 35's are a mix with 10.5's in front and 14.5's in the rear, and my 38.5's are 11" on all 4 corners, like cookie cutters! I wanted to try t ofloat a little with the wide smaller tires, the 35's act like a boat as the skinnys up front cut a path and seem to float a little making room for the rears to dig and push through. By the time I get to the 38.5's, the pit is usually rutted up so I use the skinnys all around to cut a path and run. Granted, I'm not running near the hp as you are with my 351w, so I am going back in gear. You will need to experiment and find what works best for your type of mud, and setup.
OK guys, I figured I didnt have enough power to float (with 5600#'s)! So I am thinking that I need to stay with the narrow tires and use the weight to my advanage. With 35x10.5x16 boggers and the weight, I think that I should have all the traction that I can get.
My biggest problem with trying diff things is money! I am only going to be able to buy one set of tires and that is why I am trying to figure out witch ones to get the first time.
I think I am only going to be able to get two tires now and the others later. So I guess I will see how it does with the miss match set up.
Thank you both for all you help!!! It get very expensive just going out and trying diff things. It is great have someone(s) that have been though it.
Like I said earlier, I have been getting good traction with my skinny/wide combo. If you are only getting 2 tires now, why not get the 35/14.5's for the rear, and then later on you can get either a wide or narrow set for the front. I know what you mean by a heavy truck, as mine is still a street laegal vehicle with full interior so I can run stock classes. I am starting to build a light weight smaller rig with a BB to help out with the weight to HP ratio, but that will be down the road, like next year.
