Yeah water does get trapped under, but really doesnt cause a problem unless your box is allreaddy scratched or rusted. Least it hasnt caused him a problem yet.
I wouldnt get a plastic boxliner though if I had to buy one. They are probably what 250ish bucks?
I think I'm going to do some research on this spray in liner thing. See what they have to offer and who does it and how much.
Chris,
There are only 2 main companies that do it. Line-X and Rhinoliner. I've seen both side by side on 2 different trucks and Line-X is a far superior product. Line-x is a much thicker product, non-slip, and more fade resistant. I was going to get a Rhinolining sprayed in my truck until I went to the Line-X dealer to get a quote.
They have a new product called Line-X Xtra. I believe it's $250 more than a standard Line-X liner. The X-tra is a color-match product. I don't think I'd pay an extra $250 for it. FYI, They quoted me $495 for a F-150 shortbox under-rail here in Burnaby.
The stuff goes on like at 195 degrees. The guy told me it's dry to the touch in an hour. The prep time is what takes so long. I think they will need the truck for about 4hrs.
4hrs isnt to bad and the price isnt to obscene. Might consider line-x myself. The drop in liners kinda suck and I want to protect my box better. Especially for when you have help loading.
As long as there's no rust, they will spray directly over it. I think they said they will sandblast or media blast if your bed is rusted. Once it's sprayed, it's air tight and the bed will never rust. Take a look at the photos on the link below. For you guys with drop in bed liners, take a look underneath it. Don't be surpirsed if it looks like the truck in the photo.
