I'm needing a new cellphone (Verizon) and am trying to choose between the G-zone S or the G-zone V. The former is the newer one with Bluetooth, but a lesser camera, the latter is the older one with a better camera but no Bluetooth. Both are the mil-spec Verizon offering, which is what I'm really interested in (a hardy phone).
With my plan I can get a V for free, or a type S for about $50, but I'm really not into tech stuff anymore, don't do music nano players or fancy home network stuff. About the only reason I can see for the Bluetooth is the hands free operation, but I'm not burning to look like Lt. Uhuru.
If you don't get the bluetooth phone then you are limited to using a headset with a chord for hands free operation.. If you are not interested in hands free operation then go for the older model.
Remember just because it is newer doesn't neccessarily make it better.
I just upgraded myself and opted for the Bluetooth. The main reason being that WA has passed a law that all calls must be hands free. This doesn't go into effect until January, but I'm not wanting any $500.00 tickets because my daughter calls to let me know she's made it home safely. Check out the laws around where you live, I can't help but think Cali has something similar on the books, and if not, will soon. It has a camera but I have a really nice one already, but may come in handy in an emergency. As far as music, well, I have an MP3 player for when I am running, so that wasn't a very strong selling point.
get the bluetooth capable phone. it has it, but you do not need to use it if you don't want to.
i use the plug in headset in the truck. but i also have the bluetooth if i get out. all i do is turn it on and enable it.
I have bluetooth and couldn't do without it. Hands free operation for driving and also much easier to take notes while talking.
And in my case, I lost the hearing in my left ear. Just clicked off and never came back. Talking on the phone is a real pain when you can't change from ear to ear, which you take for granted normally.
Thanks all , for the input. Good things to consider.
I've found an add-on Bluetooth device for around $60, which is what the Bluetooth phone would cost to me. And since I've found myself wishing I had a camera on numerous occasions, I think I may opt for the "free" phone with the better camera, and add Bluetooth later if it becomes an issue. Right now I don't mind being tethered to the phone for my "hands-free" operating.
I'm pretty low-tech these days. And enjoying it. Thanks!
btw remember theres 2 kinds of bluetooth , the hands free kind , and the kind you use to share ringtones with , make sure you dont get them mixed up ... ok ill shut up now
