Man...something must be wrong with the truck I am driving. It is a 2005 King Ranch with 20" wheels. Around town with a trailer...4k-5k lbs...10.8 is the best I could get. That is being easy on the throttle. I haven't seen over 16.5mpg on the highway UNLOADED.
I have run some grey Diesel Kleen for the last 5 tanks...32k miles on the truck. Any ideas?
Yep me too, Diesel4me. I also have a 2005 King Ranch and my mileage seems to be getting worse. I bought the truck used and I believe it had a bad egr cooler at the time cause it whistled and burped coolant. Even with that I was getting 15 to 16 around town and 18 to 20 on the road, just the truck no trailer. I took it to the local Ford dealer about the burping and after three attempts on head gaskets and 2 flashes they replaced the egr cooler and the whistling and burping stopped, but my mileage has gone to 10 to 12 around town and 16 to 18 on the road, just the truck no trailer and it seemed I had lost some power, it just didn't feel the same. I have installed a tuner (60 hp) hoping it would help. Mileage didn't get better but it didn't get worse and I have a litle more pep. I have read here and on several other forums of people having the same problems with no real solution. Maybe one day!!!!!!!
Great info, after looking at my notes I REALIZED I made a mistake on the quote. My truck does about the same as yours at 55 to 60 mph.20.1,my egr is pugged up and the stock tune was in at that time.I recieved my tuner back today and I loaded the econmy tunein that Matt wrote for me so I will be doing another round of miledge testing,,,,
First calculation....2006 standard cab 2 wheel drive 6 speed manual with overdrive...stock 6.0 Combined highway and around town, some creeping in traffic jams, some at 75 on superhighway....averaged out to 17...hand calculated at fillup. Not broken in yet.

You are the first person I have seen here with the same config as me (only mine is 2007, which is the same). I keep a fuel record spreadsheet in a gallery if you care to compare.
Found spreadsheet, good to compare....my truck is F250 but not a great deal of difference between springs etc....(from what I am learning on this site.) thanks for info
I just got off the phone with Matt, X-Cal II and his custom economy tunes are headed my way. I get in the low 16's now with the snow plow push frame, C-Betr mirrors and 285/75 16E Nitto Terra Grapplers adding some drag to the truck. I use DK summer and PS winter every tank. We talked a while and my expectations of 19-20 MPG are realistic for the UE tunes according to Matt. I also don't push the truck too hard most of the time, usually shifts occur in the 1500-2000 rpm range for me and I get TC lock at 45 mph and it drops engine speed to about 1250 rpm@45mph. It runs right at 2000 rpm@70mph, and I have just edged over 18MPG one time. I think the Fluidamper and Power Elbow help some too.
