Has anyone experienced their A/C not working on startup? The other day I after I had finished fueling my '06 F-250 Lariat. I proceed to start it and turn on the A/C and it would not turn on. So I drove around for about 5 mins and turned off the truck and back on again. I turned on the A/C and it worked. I haven't experienced it again. I do have a Superchip performance installed. I have had the chip in for about a year now and have never experienced any issues with my truck. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Your head unit is starting to go south. Sometimes turning the ignition off and then back on corrects it. If you are still under the 36/36000 warranty get it back to the dealer and have the head unit changed out. Ford is aware of the problem.
Another trick is to flip the headlamp switch from the "Off" position to the "Auto" on position. I typically leave my headlamp switch in the "Off" position, and on the rare occasions when the A/C controller appears to be "dead" after initial start-up, I flip the Headlamp switch back & forth and the A/C controller will come on. (FYI: Mine did this within just a few month of ownership,,dealership replaced the controller under warranty. As I am now out of warranty, I have to resort to other methods.
Very common problem. Mine did the same thing the first week i owned my truck. Turn the head lights on and off 2 times and it will come back to life. I never took mine in to get fixed and I never had problems with it other than no display once or twice a year.
Glad I found this thread, as I thought I was going crazy with mine recently, not only did the AC controls not work, but not even the outside temp display, nothing at all. My wife been driving the Ex more than me lately and said never done it to her, so only happened to me once, stopped and restarted the motor and all OK. I'm at 35 K miles, so I'll be getting mine in also....
Mine has done this from the first week, usually a couple times a year at most. I don't think it is the control head. there must be a relay or something else causing this. I dont have a wire diagram, but if it was the head I would think it would have crapped out by now. I wouldn't change it if your not still in warranty. Just turn the head lights on and off twice and the problem is fixed.
