anybody with a truck close to mine that can compare to mine.
i believe most of my problems are in my turbo but i am still curious how others run. my truck feels excellent in first gear, but with each shift the power seems to drop off, by the time its in overdrive its a slow but steady pull, if you romp on it at 70 she take s a good while to get up to 100+ even 70 -90, i know there about as aerodynamic as bricks but i am curious if anybody elses run a bunch better? and what are your boost levels too, my turbo is trashed my peak is 12 but typical is 10 or 11 psi. also with the exception of the turbo the truck is is tip top shape with no problems at all ,i am just looking at how other trucks are running with similar mods and a good turbo
so ther than exhaust your truck is stock? and i also need to pull all of my statements on my turbo, its been a long time since i looked at it and with all the turbo talk i figured i'd go take pictures, which i did, so i'll post them here in a minute and i seem to need to find another cause for low boost.
I have similar mods as you, I have a '96 F250 4x4 AOD with trans command modual, got the banks stinger plus, with gauges, intake with superduty intercooler setup, tranny cooler with electric fan, exhaust, my tires are 315/something 16s and it runs strong through 1st and 2nd, but as it gets 70+mph, it is a little suggish, but unloaded the boost gets upto 20psi, but I've seen it as high as 25psi pulling hard with my trailer fully loaded and EGT around 1200deg.
my turbo isnt bad enough to replace, by far, and it shouldnt be that low on boost, no vibrations and no endplay it looks about right for 225 with the exception of the little knick, the other blades feel good
ok I have a thought here. One post your talking about being faster than an 03 and here your thinking your truck ain't running right.
Where is your boost gauge plumbed into? Do you have lots of smoke at WOT in the highest HP setting? if you really have low boost you should have lots of smoke and high EGT's.
i have no gauges at all i am going by fords ngs tester and the wds laptop system from ford, that is why i am so confused here, when i left ford and went to and independent shop to work i used the snap-on modis and it read the same thing, i couldnt tell ya what my egt's are but my smoke is decently thick in 1st gear then it thins to a noticable haze in 2nd through 4th with a nice puff of black everytime you stomp on it
everybody that i've talked to with similar mods on this forum and around me are running 20+ psi and i'm stuck at 10 my only next guess is to save up and buy the gauges and pod and see what they actually read, but even with the map unplugged it runs the same, i uploaded my shifting videos so watch my speedo on the full throttle run and tell me what you think
how is diesel manor's stuff? i just priced my gauges, boost trans and egt and pod for 284, i like the look of the ispro gauges they match the dash lights in the truck if these are good gauges i'll order them with my check next friday
my experience with the snap solus is that boost numbers are not accurate. you need gaudes before you can do anything. I think you will be surprised to watch your pyro! you will probably wish you had done them first!
