Throttle body spacers

Throttle body spacers
A friend suggested one of these for my EFI 460 and said it would increase hp and fuel economy. Has anyone used one of these and do they work? It is interesting and if works would be a neat add on. But I dont understand how they would work. Any info appreciated.

Yeah.... I got one last year. PowerAid. I have a 1990 F250 4x4 with the 5.8L - E4OD, headers, 3:55, Power pulleys, Electric fan, MSD Blaster Coil. I also added the K&N FIPK, they make a whistle. But the rpms have to get up to 3000+ to really hear the PowerAid Spacer kick in. It twists the air as it goes into the engine. By that time I'm really movin so I don't really feel any big thrust of power. And there is a lot of air moving through the engine.
But it sure sounds cool.
Oh, as for the gas mpg.... I get 12-13 mpg when I baby it. I can't tell if it helps the mpg much because to hear t the rpms are up in the "Gas Milage Don't Matter" range.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-Mar-02 AT 00:27 AM (EST)]Only noticed the noise in my 99 f150 with a 5.4l. It's cheap and easy so I gave it a shot. But, I would not reccomend it. Put the money somewhere else. Exhaust, intake etc.
