When I rebuilt mine about 15,000 kms ago, I torqued them to about 20 ft-lbs on the old arm-crometer. I used a 3/8 ratchet and snugged them up good. It's still going strong.
thanks, but anyone if you know for sure please let me know, im swapping my electric shift transfer case out for a manual shift, its and 88 bronco with the 1356 and the 4 wheel drve has been broke for probably close to 15 years lol. anyways the manual shift has a different output on the rear than my old transfercase, so i had to pull them both apart and swap parts out.
I used the 15 to 25 ft/lbs for the case bolts similar to the bolts that hold the c-6 together. The case probably would not like the steel bolts being torqued much more.
Ok I know for sure - I went out and grabbed my Haynes manual. All torques are ft-lbs.
Yoke nuts to Transfer case - 25 to 35
Drain / Fill - 7 to 17 (go low cause I've stipped these out as they are only aluminum)
transfer case to trans adapter - 25 to 43
I would use the same torque for the case halves as the adapter number because the bolts are almost identical if I remember correctly.
Haynes doesn't recommend overhauling the transfer case guts yourself so they don't include the actual torque spec.
