torque specs
While I am asking does anyone know the torque specs for the trac bar?
Tim M
Pitman Arm (called a "Steering Gear Sector Shaft Arm" in Fordspeak) Retaining Nut (retains to Sector Shaft): 200 ft lbs.
Drag Link Retaining Nut (retains to Pitman Arm): 67 ft. lbs.
Tie Rod End Retaining Nut (retains to Drag Link, Knuckles): 67 ft. lbs.
Tie Rod Adjusting Sleeve Clamp Nuts (tightens sleeve that adjusts toe): 41 ft. lbs.
Noting your question about a much higher torque spec in another post, the only steering linkage specification that gets torqued in excess of 400 ft. lbs. is that of the steering arm for an F-53 Motorhome chassis. The Motorhome specs are interleaved in the same matrix as the Excursion and F250/350 specs, so it takes some care to read the full list for the correct application.
Speaking of high torque values, I almost forgot... you asked about the Track Bar also. (Listed under Suspension).
Track Bar to Upper Mounting Bracket Nut: 369 ft. lbs. (for 2000-2002)
Track Bar to Lower Mounting Bracket Nut: 369 ft. lbs. (for 2000-2002)
Nice job on your drop!
The drop down was not too bad but having the truck lifted so high pulled a little on the nerves. We only had one funky incident where the guy lowering the jack did not do it slow enough and when it his the jack stands it sort woke us all up. We took it even slower the next time.
I am very thankful its done and all my helpers had no injuries.
The only injury was my sweet snap-on 250lb torque wrench....
