OK so the backup auto rear adjust didnt work. I am going to hopefully be adjusting the rear brakes tomorrow night. It is easier to adjust with the tires off right? As for the CC sensor thing does anyone have the actual part name or number? I figure with 340k on her thats a posibilty. But I havent had to do the rears since I got the truck with 317k on it and the shoes stil have some life in them. Whats this rust ridge that your talking about coonhunterjoe?

the rust ridge is something you won't have there in So Cal. its a rust belt thing. The salt from the winter roads create a thick ridge of rust on the very inner lip on the brake drum where the shoes don't make contact with the drum. It can be as large as 1/4 inch and makes it difficult for the drum to be taken off.

AFTER THE ACCIDENT, I found out that my front brake hoses had deteriorated from the inside. There was no indication of the hoses going bad. No leaks, no cracks, no nothing. They looked like good hoses during the visual inspections.

What I do with the rust ring, even on new drums, I'll take a burr on a die grinder and give it a tapper on that lip, not dramatic but some so when it does rust again, on the next brake job, the job is alot easier. I've been doing this for sometime and never had an issue but take it as a suggestion.
Guess what I am doing to my rust ring in the next two week! throwing it in the scrap bin along with the backing plate, wheel cylinders and shoes (well maybe keep those for cores). Going to pick up my steel tomorrow and my parts should all be in for my rear disc brake conversion! Coming to a forum near you! Soon! (before that wheel cylinder starts leaking any more!)
Rock On TJ. Pictures, man...and a play-by-play write-up of the conversion. Give us your thoughts and any ideas, tips, and tricks you come up with along the way would be greatly appreciated.
Rear brake conversion is something I've been dreaming of for quite some time.
Will do! I picked up my steel this morning for the brackets. Not sure if I will get to it this weekend or not. I might atleast pick the my mock up rear end that I am borrowing from the junk yard. Its good to have a completely redneck junk yard near by. they don't have much of value but all their tow trucks are fords so they keep all those around.
