Engine dies periodically?
My truck is an '89 F350 Crew with a 460 and C6 4x4. The truck idles fine and runs great, but sometimes the idle will drop and the engine will shut down while sitting at a light or even worse when slowly driving over a rock or obstacle -- I just restart it and no big deal, except while 4-wheeling it is very irritating. Any ideas on what to do, what to check first? Is this a sign of some sort of throttle position sensor going awry? Other than this the truck runs pefectly and just passed smog.

I have a 5.8 that had similar issues. Mine would surge and sometimes die. I had replace the idle motor and Tps sensor. This cured most if it. Mine also passed smog, with a bad cat. I replaced the cat and she hasn't surged or died since then. It even shifted funny until I replace the cat. Good luck
