muffler placement

ok i have a 77 f150 4x4 swb and the original glasspacks were under the truck just right past the tcase, and the exhaust exits duals out the back. my question is, these new cars (i.e. mustang, new charger, corvette, and most import cars) mostly have the muffler placed at the rear of the vehicle and i was wondering what that would hurt on my truck. I am planning on getting some cherry bomb glasspacks and since they are red and my truck is red, it would look good set up like some of these cars with the mufflers at the rear, and my question is what would it hurt??? maybe tone or pitch. with the short wheel base of the truck it shouldnt be as far back as say a supercab camper special or anything. thanks for the help!

Exhaust

I asked the same questions to the guy that did the exhaust on my 79. Way I understood it would be a deeper tone further back. But I wanted mine more verbal, so everything is under the cab. Headers and Hooker Aero Chamber's behind a 400m, not a bad sound.

I guess with them closer to the headers the exhaust has more time to echo noise thru the piping.
