i just got done putting some 35" super swamper thornbirds on my '94 bronco. Ive got a 6" lift, and i had 35s before, but the big lugs on the side of these catch on my swing/radius arms and my sway bar in the front if i turn too sharp. i plan to put on a 3" body lift, but that wont help with my problems. any ideas?
many companies offer "bend/offset" longer than stock radius arms this maybe one solution. wider wheels make the tire less taller. offset on wheels can also be looked at, but choices maybe slim. what kind of suspension system do you have?
Sell the thornbirds, they are the worst tire ever produced. they wear really bad, are horrible in wet conditions and are even worse in the mud. i know they look cool , just not practicle.
Wider wheels or wheel spacers will move your tire out. I have 14" wide wheels and 38x15.5's dont rub. The quick fix is to adjust your stops. Theres a bolt and lock nut on each side to limit your turning circle.
If you drive at all on black top . My friend got 15000 miles out of his. and was a ice skate on wet roads . As for mud they didn't do any better than the finer tread (small knobby )tires I was using .
i've had the thornbirds on all winter and have been more than happy with them. i mean they're no a/t but as long as you keep you head out of your a$$, you're fine in any wether
i was actually talking to my friend today, and i think why they have been so good for me is because i have them on such narrow rims. He thinks the bubbling it causes helps to open up the tread more than a wide rim would. i have some 15x10 steel wheels. i have been planning to try them out on them and see if it has much effect. im not posting this to say anyone is wrong, i'm just giving my opinion.
