E-350 Rim Size & Bolt Pattern

I have an 87 E-350 with 16" wheels and a 78 E-250 with 16 1/2" wheels. The 16 1/2's are increasingly odd-ball.

I see that a lot of new trucks and vans have 17" rims. I want to change-over to what is/will be most common in the years to come.

My questions are:

What are the newer, heaver trucks and vans coming out with?

Are bolt patterns and stud size the same on the new stuff as on the older [are they interchangable]?

[I am really going to regret giving up my 16 1/2" white Jackmans with 1/4" thick spokes.]

Adjust your tire choice, so the overall tire and wheel 'size' remains the same, as to diameter, so your clearances and spedometer accuracy don't cause you any trouble.
Sell the 16 1/2" Jackmans on Ebay.
Does your E350 gas tank hold the full 35 gallon spec?

I'm not so much concerned with overall size since I'm dealing with four wheeel drive - and a lot of clearance. I'm interested in what I can bolt on.

As to the main tank, I bought this rig from the State, I've never filled it, but I think it is 22 gal, with 18 gal aux - same as my '78.

No, metric, hub-centric, six bolts (as examples).

You will find the best big off road tires (ex. Interco) that come in two sizes with the most choices are 15" and 16.50". For some brands, 16" choices do not exist.

99 and up ford are metric so anything before that will fit, most chevy, dodge and ford 8 lug fit the same bolt pattern

You don't want the 16.5 wheels because the tire selection is horrible for a 6.5-7 inch wide wheel. Stick with a 16 inch wheel lots of tire selection.

E350 vans did not go to metric in 99, only the trucks did. E350s up to at least 04 are 8 lug X 6.5 ". I bet up to 2007s are the same. The 2008 may have changed to metric but I doubt it. All 8 lug Dodge and Chevy will fit. 99 and older 8 lug truck rims and all 8 lug Ford van rims will fit. All this is supposing the 4X4 conversion company didn't change it to something uncommon.

I agree with you gator on everything, but, this

> All 8 lug Dodge and Chevy will fit.

8 lug Chevy might not fit the Fords because the hub hole is too small. I have come across that before.

Thanks for the correction as I assumed that the truck and van switched at the same time
