Everyone here seems to like Rotella ELC (I think the Peak Global Lifetime stuff at Wally-World is the same). I have the Gold from the factory, but when I have to tear into mine, it'll be the Red Kool-Aid....
Benny I got it at Pep Boys .. about $9 per gallon and i think it takes 7-8 gallons to do the whole flush. I flushed my entire system - I can NOT find the article but it does include removing the coolant plugs - one on each side of the block at the rear and flushing with fresh water, then allowing it to drain and refilling it.
I live here in Fla. also. I use Zerex G05. It's gold and the is one of the proper coolants for the 2002. I usually run it for 50,000 miles and then change it. No problems at all. You can buy it at NAPA. Just be sure to get the 100% stuff and add your own water. It's cheaper that way. You can buy distilled water at Walmart for almost nothing.
I think AutoZoo also has the G05 stuff, but I never paid attention to cost. It takes 4 jugs of that & 4 jugs of distilled for a complete fill, right?? I'm thinking about getting the 203* stat and the "around the belt radiator hose" when I do my coolant filter, so it would be a good time to switch out the coolant. I'll probably go Rotella ELC (or that Wally-World Final Charge stuff) I mentioned earlier, though....
Just did mine Sat. AM with Final Charge, no more messing with SCA's. Did complete flush pulled block drains, took almost 7 gal. Probably had a little old stuff in there, did not take out t-stat.
