dave, driving home tonight i had my waste gate unplugged had it in drive with the t/c locked and floored it, the boost shot to 22 psi and then went to 0 and it through a check engine light. So now i'm curious to see if your boost fooler will trick the map sensor and let it show more then 22 pounds of boost.
now for my own problem wondering if something was wrong with my truck, it looks like my wastegate was opening to soon like it might of needed to be adjusted.
i am really curious now to see what BD's boost fooler does and how it works. dave you were real helpful on the phone today. thanks.
Tim
We have adjustable wastegates as well but the boost fooler kits are less money.
Sounds like we are onto something, what is making me suspicious is that you and the others are only showing 22 PSI of boost, not 23,24,25?? I wonder why 22, seems like the wall, it sounds to me that you are actually making more than 22PSI boost but the gauge is not displaying more than 22PSI. I am starting to think that because the EVO II is reading boost from the computer it can only read/display 22PSI. The original EVO with an analog gauge can build 25-27PSI.
Does any one have a analog boost gauge or can put one on to confirm this?
Okay doing some testing here and talking with the techs, I discovered that the map sensor wire will stop the check engine light from coming on with trucks making more than 22PSI which should be the case with most Super Duties running the EVO II. With the EVO II and a BD boost fooler installed it will fool the computer even further so the boost will read even lower, like 13PSI. Although the truck is making 22 plus PSI of boost, the EVO II is reading boost through the computer so it will not display more than 22PSI… even less, like 13PSI with the boost fooler installed.
My conclusion is the best solution for this is an analog gauge and a boost fooler, this will allow you to read the true boost and prevent the check engine light from coming on.
Edge makes a good product but I am not happy with the boost readout setup, I am even finding this problem on the 06 Dodge we have with the Juice with Attitude, our 06 Dodge with our twin turbos is making 60PSI but the Attitude will only display 42... why even have a boost readout if it has a max, this would be like putting a 20PSI boost gauge on a truck that makes 30???
