How much horsepower and torque should a K&N air filter and a 5" turbo back exhaust add to a 2002 7.3. I know the stock numbers are 215 h.p. and 425 torque. Thanks.

of course at the flywheel, that is how all power out put is rated.
Sweet! That means I am pushing over 500hp!!! Frickin cool! I am the only 7.3 in the country with PMR's pushing 500hp...
Sorry boss you are wrong, factory rates them at the fly wheel because they can test them at the fly wheel... For everyone else its the rear wheel horsepower...

Well you may well be at the flywheel. I think he was just quoting factory #s. We all know it is what is happenning at the rear wheels is what matters. There is no other way for us regular guys to measure it.
Now the manufacturer will place the engine on an engine dyno in front of an industry tech IOT confirm the quoted rating. That is how the manufacturers compete, at the flywheel. We compete at the rear wheels. Curiously, there is no way to be sure the engine on the dyno is not a ringer and therefore a one time fluke. But that is how it is done from what I understand. One engine, one test, and there you have it.

thats right...factory rates them at the fly wheel...what else where you talking about...some pie in the sky dyno number that is effected by the type of dyno, the correction factor used, the guy runnng the dyno, ect
i was talking about what the engine HP and tq is rated at BY THE FACTORY i have no idea why you have some "rear wheel power" fixation? i dont care if you are making 1000hp with PMR's ...good for you all i was saying is that the hp and tq rating for his truck is 250hp and 525 of tq...he was quoting 96-97 numbers for his truck. with your obvious vast knowledge of PSD's i would of thought you would recognise that??

Wow... your a smart one huh... Then tell me what does Banks, Bullydog, TS, DI ,ATS, DP, Edge, Superchips use for published HP gains with there products... REAR WHEEL HORSEPOWER NUMBERS... That little number on your valve cover means JACK... Your getting about 215 hp to the rear wheels stock.
FYI, all of my Dyno runs have always been very consistent and even across different dynos, altitudes and operators...

hmmm, because its alot easier to strap a truck to a dyno than it is to pull the engine and messure the power and the flywheel?

i never said it ment anything other than that is what the engine is rated at

UM... toproller, maybe this is a little off the topics, but you may want to reconsider the K&N you're running. I've seen a lot of info in here that shows that the K&N isn't good for your turbo (lets in too much dirt). There are plenty of ex-K&N users in here too who have made that discovery and switched over to either the 6637, AFE, or AIS systems.
Yeah, I switched to the 6637 from the K&N. Didn't notice a difference but based on the info I learned here I am probably saving the life of my Turbo. Country
