Pintle Ball Combo
Pintle Ball Combo
I have a Pintle ball combo, w/ 2" ball, I was wondering if there was any way I could retro fit the pintle portion to lock in the down position when hauling a trailer that uses the ball...There's really no clearance, and was wondering if anybody knew of ***** that are extremely clsoe to the shank, or some way of altering the pintle mount itself...Thanks
Pintle/Ball Lock
I wrote a response to you a couple of days ago, and hit a button on the keyboard and erased the whole damn thing. I hate it when that happens! I see no one has, or can answer your question so I'll do it again.
BTW this is my first post on this forum. I have learned so much here, that I owe it to you all to answer your question. I have a saying that,"It is the responsibility of the educated--to educate."
I have used many different pintle hooks over the years. Mostly military. It kept people with ***** (Ha, Ha) from bothering me to pull their trailers. Lately, I have so many trailers of my own, I need the ball now. The pintle I am currently using, and like the best, has a lock tab on the top hinged part, (It wedges between the casting/forging and the top hinged part) to lock it down over the ball when appropriate. Sometimes manufacturing differences/variations in the ball couplers prevent using the lock tab. I think this pintle is made by Holland. It is very tough, I have rotated (bent) the ball mount or lower arm of the casting/forging which holds the ball, a few degrees by abuse, and it is no problem, but everybody notices it. When it breaks---I'll fix it! One of the pivot pins on the lock tab was broken for years and I just fixed it. I'm not going to try and explain how the tab is made, but you could probably put a tab on yours. You can see mine here in Long Beach Ca, if you're close. I'm not sure I can get a pic of it on this site, it would probably be a hassle if I tried. I think I could send a pic thru the "regular" email. Hope that helps. Will
PS Just hit that button again. I tried to backspace while in the preview mode. Somehow I saved the erasure or it would take another few days!
