The gauges in the instrument cluster on my truck, '76 Supercab 2wd, have been acting funny, and I'm wondering what in the electrical system could be causing it -
The temp gauge, the oil pressure gauge, and gas gauge will intermittently slowly climb towards the top of their ranges at the same time. The voltmeter is the only gauge not affected by this weird what I call a "power spike." They eventually come back down and rest where they should, but I have no idea what could be causing this.
I too have this problem only my oil pressure gauge doesn't seem to be affected, only my fuel and temp gauges climb. They stay that way for 1 to 2 minutes and then return to normal.
Almost every CVR problem I have seen has been due to a bad ground at the tab. The CVR gets hot during operation and the plastic that surrounds the attachment screw deforms allowing the ground connection to come loose.
Thanks a bunch, guys...I'll pull the cluster tonight and check it out - it would make sense that it's the ICVR, too because it only happens after I've driven a while and things have generated heat.
