eec iv swaps...

my 90 f150 has a very high (2800) idle. I narrowed the problem down to the ecm. Its either faulty or has a bad ground/short.

My question can I swap a computer from another year/vehicle into the truck. It is an eec iv. My junk yard has two trucks.....I have the pin out diagram for the 86-92? if I change the pins can I do it???

if you're absolutely sure that it is a bad ecm, go to www.fordfuelinjection.com they have a page that will show you all the compatible computer model numbers....otherwise, I would look harder into other stuff. are you getting any codes?

It's a rarity to have the ECU go bad. A faulty IAC can cause an engine to idle high.

Thanks thats where I got the chart from. I changed the IAC and Tp sensor. FordInjection gave me some help on what pinnouts I need to check b4 I go buy a computer.

Well my yard has a bunch of 4.9 computers and a couple 5.8 computers but no 5.0 computers so.....Mr. Auto store has to order it for 145 with a 75 core charge.
