im interested in playing around with some funny gas.. I want peoples opions on if its a good idea or not. I have heard both some say its great if used right and others sayd its junk or cheating. where im from nobody is an expert they just want to sell me a system but not sell me a system that works for me i dont want to blow my motor or melt my pistons i got enough tied up into that thing so what are peoples opions on the stuff?
nitrous is plenty safe if installed and used correctly. definitely get a wet kit. this incorporates a fuel solenoid and nitrous solenoid. when the button is pushed both solenoids activate and the right amount of fuel and nitro is released. this is good and safe. it will prevent you from going lean and causing damage. the kits are available from nitrous works and nitrous express. they are about 500$. good luck.
Yeah, I was just trying to offer a reality check, I know there are many awesome nitrous kits available, the slikkest one I've seen yet is the new NOSzzle kit from NOS, it's a wet system that piggybacks your fuel injectors, so you get accurate metering every time. Just don't get carried away, I wouldn't recommend any more than a 125 shot, but a modest 75 shot should be plenty, and you run less risk of pitching a slug through the hood. Lightning, I respect your opinion, I just like building big-torque naturally aspirated engines, and you like the centrifugal blown, force-fed fireworks mod motors. Hey, I heard a good one the other day: I was talking to one of my misguided (import-tuner) friends, and he was talking about a non-aspirted engine, which baffled me for a second, until I realized this fool was talking about naturally aspirated engines. So in the import world, you're either turbocharged, nitrous-fed, or you're nothing at all. I just thought y'all might get a kick out that, I was just under the impression that a non-aspirated internal combustion engine would have a pretty underpowered, miserable life, what was I thinking?
thanks for the input I have heard both good and bad about a nitrious setup I saw those NOS setup from holly but im not runnin EFI im running carb. So let me get this right when you push the button it shoots a shot of nitrious and a shot of gas on top of the already gas and air going threw the carb right? so that will use more gas that makes sence i thought that the extra nitrious was the cause of the power but after reading up on it on severil websites its not its just giving you more air wich then more fuel can be added and whamo more power. I have a brand new engine never been fired that i want to use for my n20 setup about how many miles should i break it in before i think about nos you think?
You're right, any system that activates extra fuel with the nitrous shot is called a "wet" system. I would definatelty wait over 3000 miles before you even think about popping that switch, I'd just hate to put extra stress on a reciprocating assembly that hasn't even shed it's babyfat yet.
