it's only going to smoke when you get on it. It shouldn't just smoke at idle. And yes, if you get a chip with multiple settings, just get one that's stock.
Well they do drive it to inspect it, so if I have a stock setting and the get on it a little do you think it will smoke much? On the other setting I want it to just not for the inspection
yeah it'll prob smoke as much as stock (barely noticable) on a stock tune.. when you order a chip from twildman or dptuners just ask for a setting that will make 0 smoke and use that as a stock setting... they'll prob reduce power by like 10-15hp or something
Thanks guys I think you have made my worries less. Now I can look into upgrading. I have almost 210,000 miles and original squirters. I think it may be time for some new ones.
I think DP has an E-tune for passing Emissions testing. but if your driving it in any tune other than stock expect some smoke. How much depends on your right foot.
The laws are wired over here, no emissions testing, but the rule is it cant smoke excessivly, so I know that the only time it will be above idol is when they drive it around and into the bay to test the brakes. I just need a setting I can put the truck on for the test and get little smoke for twenty minutes. The military is pretty screwy over here, and they dont like big trucks either.
casey, I have stage ones and all the mods to support them. When I pulled my chip to send it back to Jody for a reburn........it was like I had ripped the guts out of my truck. With the chip in, I can roll the coal, but when it was out, or stock tune.....the only way I coulda got it to smoke was start a brush fire in my stacks. No matter how big injector you go, with stock programming, it will run stock. Unless you go to an injector with larger nozzles.
My experiences were the same. On stock programming with stage 1's, I could only haze some black smoke at WOT above about 2,500rpms. This was identical to stock.
