i just let it idle till my EGTs hit aruond 250 (post turbo)

I work for BNSF out of Temple as an engineer (throttle jockey). For some reason they were going to hire some people here but they cancelled the classes. I don't know much about the KCS but it appears to be a class outfit that's really startin' to go places. As far as being on-call 24/7, it's not as bad as it sounds. It's just difficult making plans because you never know when you're going to work. Anyway, good luck with the KCS. It's a good job with excellent pay and benefits.

Depends on how hot the turbo is. Sometimes its on for 5 minutes sometimes its on for 25. I just installed it when I got my new turbo. I wasnt takin any chances with this new unit

So it runs based on the Pyrometer? Or does it have another sending unit?

it has its own stand alone CPU box that takes a signal off the pyro yes.
