I am curious as to which railroad you work for. I am highly considering working for KCS which is pretty close to your area.
I work for BNSF out of Temple as an engineer (throttle jockey). For some reason they were going to hire some people here but they cancelled the classes. I don't know much about the KCS but it appears to be a class outfit that's really startin' to go places. As far as being on-call 24/7, it's not as bad as it sounds. It's just difficult making plans because you never know when you're going to work. Anyway, good luck with the KCS. It's a good job with excellent pay and benefits.
Depends on how hot the turbo is. Sometimes its on for 5 minutes sometimes its on for 25. I just installed it when I got my new turbo. I wasnt takin any chances with this new unit
