Most common reason is the tube leading to the sensor is plugged with soot. Remove the sensor and get something like a long wire brush, or anything thin and long enough, to try and clean out the soot. The sensor sits in front of the engine behind the idler pully, and you'll see the metal tube from the bottom leading to the passenger's side exhaust manifold.

Thanks Curtis, a few months ago i cleaned it out and the inside of the sensor with weed eater line and brake cleaner, it WAS clogged and didnt throw this code, i had planned on doing it again because i didnt get it reamed out as well as i wanted to a while back. There are a couple codes this sensor can throw, do you know which one says the sensor is BAD. Ive seen alot of chatter on deleting this sensor but im leaving mine in

Usually the 471 or the 478 codes are tripped with a plugged line. The 470, 472, and 473 are typically a bad sensor, although cleaning the tube and sensor is still one of those "do this first" things before completely replacing the sensor. Also don't forget to check the electrical connector and wires for any problems.
