Nathen ever thought of making that 4X4, at work all we arew buying are 1ton 2wd duallies, and they blow hard. On dry pavement Ok, unmatched duallies great espically with a trailior but mud, ice, snow or rough or rutty terrain, I hate'em worse then a semi.
my truck will NEVER voluntarily see mud. oh, and i can get over 700kms on a tank of gas...
I call B.S. The best my nieghbour gets is about 500km. with his 4.6L in his truck. I went from Red Deer to north of Grande Praire just over 700km on 95L diesel.

Mileage can very lot depending on how it`s driven, gearing and tune.......
Ryan,
4WD drive would be nice but would be big $$$ and work. The only factory dually front axle that will work is a 86-96 Dana 60. I would have to create a new crossmember and convert the axle to coil sprung.
The other option would be to use a 80's-96 Dana 50. I would have to run wheel adapters, narrow the donor crossmember and convert it to coil springs.
I would also have to convert my transmission to have a 4wd tail shaft and add a transfercase which would hit my underfloor master cylinder. I would also need two custom driveshafts. I would need to regear my rear differential to 4:10 since they never offered a 3.73:1 front axle.
I'd consider it if someone gave me all the donor vehicles.
It wouldn't be too bad in snow if I threw a locker in it.

call it what you want...i know i've had 628kms on my OD with a hair over a 1/4 tank left. don't start a pissing match here. like Fom said, there's a lot of factors that affect mileage...
Fuel tank size is a factor on how far a guy can go too. My dad has a 01 diesel and he can go aways longer then my 03, but my 03 gets better mileage. His tank is bigger though.
I cant remember offhand how far I could go on a tank of fuel in my 97. I think it was around 650kms doing the speed limit.
Nathan you should consider turning your truck into a 4x4, that would just be sweet!
And as for the old HD trucks as half tons, for myself I want an old truck to be a cruiser kinda type truck, it wouldnt see work at all!
As for making a 4wd truck, Technically Morris has almost all the parts needed:
Coil spring suspension parts - 85 F-150 4x4
Transmission tail housing - 85 F-150 4x4
Front Dana 50 axle 4.10:1 - 92 F-250 4x4
BW 1354 transfercase - 92 F-250 4x4
Rear Sterling 10.25" DRW axle 4.10:1 - 93 F-350
Was the difference would probably be between a shot box and a long box. The short box would haved 115L tank & a long box would have a 145L tank. in the superduties. I am not trying to start a pissin' math produce the match for your claims?

ok dude, get us both in trouble. my truck has a 25.5 gallon tank, i can easily average 24mpg on the highway. do the math. thats 612 miles on the tank bone dry, which equals 979.2kms. ummm...well, that seems to be a little over 700kms.
my truck is listed in my signature, my driving style is passive. 100-110km/h, with spurts of 130+ to pass. even if i only got 20mpg, its still over 800kms to the tank. sorry man, but you're dead wrong this time.
