I have Cooper tires on all of my vehicles. You can't beat them for longevity, price, and style. I still have the original Firestone Steeltex tires on my 03 F-250, but when they wear out, on come a set of Coopers.
Keep us posted. I see that the local Fleet/Farm store carries Coopers, usually at pretty good prices.
While it isn't as sexy as some tires, I'm all about preformace over looks. I want a real cheap E rated 17 inch tire that will handle mud, snow, ice, wet pavement and dry pavement, last at least 70,000 miles and it should be quiet on the road......is that a problem?
I was ready to go in and by a set of 37 STT's until I talked to a guy who had them on is 03 powerstroke. At 20K miles they're were less than 10%. I spent the extra coin and bought Toyos.
The STT's no doubt are a fantastic looking tire and have gotten rave reviews, but if you search on here and other truck forums, the wear seems to be less than desireable.
- A number of factors play into tire wear, so I wouldn't want to discourage anyone from buying them just based of what I saw on that one set -
One other thing to note, a lot of people buy the Toyos for the load rating. You guys who do need to double check your rim specs if they're aftermarket. A lot of aftermarket rims are only rated in the 3000-3600 lb mark whereas the Toyo E-rated tires can carry 4,200 or something like that. Doesn't do any good to have an E rated tire if your rim can't support the weight as well. Just an FYI
Yeah ive been running them for about 20k now, I like everything about them except they seem loud to me and there wearing pretty fast, probly only 10k left on them. Im probly going back to Toyo MTs next. I get the most miles out of Bridgestone MTs
I have the STT's on my Jeep and prior to buying my Toyo's, I thought they were by far, the best tire going. The Toyo's, IMO, took everything that makes the STT a great tire, and went a little farther. Just little things like, extending the siping in each lug, all the way to the sidewall. The STT's have nice siping for a mud tire, but it's in the middle of each lug only. And while it handles well on wet pavement, I feel the Toyo's are even more stable, allowing the water to fully dissipate.
Also, in the 315/75R16 size I was looking for, the STT's were only available in a D Load rating of 3195lbs per tire. The Toyo's were available as an E Load rating of 3860lbs per tire. Now I'm comparing a 3,000lb Jeep TJ to a 6,800lb SD but it's all I have to go by.
Had I not discovered the Toyo's, (thanx to this site), I would have put the STT's on my truck. Just my $.02.
redford:
Good luck w/ the 70,000 mud tire!!!! As for the STT's, the only 17" sizes avaliable w/ an E Load rating are 245/70R17 and 265/70R17, according to my info.

My friend runs the STT's on his Dodge, while I run the ST's on my SD. We got them at the same time and they both seem to wear very nicely. While the STT's have a killer sidewall appearance, I went with the ST mainly because they cost less and my previous set lasted 45k.
Another reason I went w/the STT's is width...they are allot narrower than the Toyo's and I didn't want rubbing issues w/the 37's.
Seems only Cooper and BFG make a good M/T at 12.5 width (they spec at about 13). My Toyo 35's were also 13.5's and I had to do some trimming. The 37 STT's actually fit better than my 35" Toyos because of the width. I don't like a tire that exceeds the fender wells.
