I have a problem that is getting progressively worse. My 99' f-150 is not wanting to drive forward very easily. When I put it in gear and drive forward, it drags like my brakes are on, in gear or out of gear.(rolling) I've checked my E-brake and seems to be releasing just fine. It also seems to drive in reverse easily without dragging. There is a single clunk sound once in awhile(taking off after stopped) and it seems to be worse after this happens. I noticed this problem a little after I powerwashed some of my engine compartment. Can anyone shead some light?...................Sorry some new info. After further investagation Iv'e discovered drivers side rear brake drum and rim are getting very hot, it seems E-brake cable is seized up. I guess I'll start there. Alot of weird symtoms for a seized cable.
i had the same problem one month ago, one of the e brake cables were fine. the cable under the truck was moving fine also, come to find out the drives side was lock up and holding her back so i just toke mine off and hope to put two new ones on when i get the money. also if she pulls to one side under hard braking in the front you might have a bad caliper check the rotors.
E-brake cable on drivers side was corroded inside. I noticed a little bubble in the rubber housing on cable, broke it open and found a rust pocket. I used some penatrating oil to unseize it for the time being. I'll end up replacing both cables. Thank you.
mine was the same way. i got it broke loss just to try and it came apart. i still haven't got any parts but im glad to see you had good luck. my drums were fine hope your are thank bud.
