Just wondering if anybody ever had to pull a headliner. Ive got the lariet with the goofy mile meter overhead console. Im wanting to add the overhead cab running lights. Appreciate any wisdom b4 i mess with it . BTW Good 4th to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Thanks, Bill
sounds like a lot of work LOl
consider doing a full write up and post all picsof removal and installation
consider installing a sound deadener like DYNAMAT either their sheets or a spray/paint on type.
GOOD LUCK!
Headliner is a piece of cake....Though you have to be careful not to kink it or you may see an ugly line after you reinstall. Also if you have lighted mirrors on the visors you have to carefully pull the wire out and unplug it. All in all, clean hands and a careful removel will mean success. Remember to water test the cab lights also, Mine have been known to leak now and then and they were factory installed.
Definitly do the Fat-Mat or Dynamat while your in there. To do the Headliner is probably about $40.I did my doors and Firewall/engine Bay on the inside over the Turbo, Made a big differenc. Next is the Headliner and floor. >Let us know how difficult or easy it wasto remove. Country
hey guys what is the easiest way to take the headliner down i have been wantting to add cab lights but i wasnt sure how to go about taking the headliner down does anyone have pictures
This is not a crew cab ;; is it?? I have a crew cab and posted about the headliner . Said you could not get it out with out messing it up. I have a Lariet also ,, but crew cab.
Well mine is a crew cab, and I plan on installing the lights and Fat Mat here in the next couple of days. I have already done the doors and the front half of the floor. I am going to gut everything this time, put in the lights, and run FatMat all around. I have 200sqft of it sitting ready to go. I am anxious to do the headliner area as i think that will make a huge difference in sound level in the cab. The only sound level in the cab I want to hear is what is on the stereo.

i hope that fatmat you're using doesn't have asphalt in it. i highly suggest getting a butyl based sound dampener. dynamat pro is expensive but i've been getting 12 sq ft for 60 bucks at fry's in houston. secondskinaudio.com is a cheaper better alternative to dynamat if you're interested. you have to pay shipping and wait for it but you can get quite a bit more dampening and soundproofing material over dynamat extreme.
I wonder if you pull the back window out if it would be fine to get the headliner out??anyone try that yet
That is the only way to get it out without damaging it, I haven't done it. I had enough room that I could angle it to one side to do the work, then go around the other and finish it off. I did think about taking the window out but decided for what I was doing it wasn't necessary.
Edit: I shouldn't say only way as if you took the windshield out, you'd have the same benefit
You'll need to remove all the visor hardware and if you have a center console display in there, you'll need to remove it as well. there are two push lock tabs that will need to be pried out, I used an 8mm wrench and a screwdriver handle for the leverage and they just popped out. Just make sure they are clean, otherwise you'll leave prints on the head liner. I'd also pull the center dome light, the weather stripping on the doors will be enough to hold the liner. Depending on how much space is needed, you might just pull the entire thing and work around it as to not put an accidental crease in it.
I know on a crew cab you will not be able to take the liner out completely unless you remove either the front or rear window. The door post is in the way.
