alz...you are correct..."Broadform" was what the lawyer said I needed. I didn't have that so he said I was out of luck. Said all I could do was get $500 for the "mini-tort". I was paying between $400-500 for basic liability. Should have got more coverage.

By the way...the other driver was at fault and ticketed....I was not.

I keep broadform collision on my truck even though it has 170k miles on it. At $450 for six months, I'm sure liability wasn't much less.
What prevents you from sueing the person at fault to recover the damages to the truck?

I didn't say everyone could .

The bumper isnt push sideways much or back for that matter .I hit a deer well 3 at 65 and did more damage than that.

That is a high very light hit other than core suport $149 and fender $59.00 But everything can be found used or free in my parts truck or from local trucks sitting around .Hood $50, all lights and header panel $75 frame section $20 all other broken parts mounts ,horns ETC . Or I'll just buy a $700 parts truck and sell what I dont need for a profit. 2 hr most on frame machine (acctually the only thing beside paint I would have to pay or trade for) And weld on another accordian horn. I have had enough deer damage/accident damage to know on these. Yes there are trany issues and surprises . But as far as the sheet metal I can do it For that

I have 2 parts trucks and these are super comon sitting around here.

Just saying that sweet truck would be on road in less than week in PA.

Man what a freakin shame!! If someone hit my truck like that I would probably beat the hell out of them right then and there, I've got a lead pipe in my back seat. I love my truck like I do my women; if anyone damaged her there would be hell to pay. That truck is gorgeous, would be an awful shame to sell it for so cheap. You should look into the cost of repairing it.

Lastly, I think the other guys are right. Even though you're not covered for collision, it doesn't matter. From a legal standpoint, I'm pretty sure that he needs to pay for the damages to you and your car; at least thats the way it is in California. If there wasn't some sort of law that enforced this, then people could go around crashing into other people all day and saying "whelp! sorry! I don't have collision protection!" I've had my fair share of accidents and they have always been taken care of by SOMEONE'S insurance.

The at fault driver wasn't hurt in the crash. Not even a scratch. My right arm got bruised and scraped from the airbag and a little cut on my finger from my hand hitting the rear-view mirror off of the windshield. I am not impared of any sort. There was no ambulance and I asked the driver twice if he was hurt as well as his parents after they showed up, and also the police officers. They all said he was fine. I am going to get the report on thursday so I have all the info on the case. Then I think maybe I will call his insurance company.

Well here's some info. for what its worth.

It appears in MI they've taken the lawyers out of the picture in most automobile lawsuits.

Your insurance company covers you. Their insurance covers them.

There are 3 types of optional collision coverages which if you would of had, your insurance company would have covered you minus a deductible .

Because you had no collision coverage here are some options.

First contact your insurance company and see what your options are. They most likely will blow you off.

Take some good pics. of the truck showing how good of condition it was and pics. of the damage. Try to document the value of the truck.

You need to contact your insurance company and file a claim for any injuries you suffered because of the accident. Your insurance company will reimburse you.

You should contact the person at fault and see if they are willing to make you whole and pay for the value of the truck.

If they say no, call lawyer referral and they can recommend a lawyer in your area to consult with. (Not the first lawyer you spoke with).

If you don't want to hire a lawyer which can get very expensive, you can file a claim in small claims court which can't exceed $3000.

You pay a fee to file and a fee to serve the person.

There's no doubt you should win because they were at fault.

Con's, the court system is slow.
If you win, you still need to collect.

The best senerio would be the person you sue may decide to settle out of court and may not realize the $3000 cap in small claims court.

Here's two links. There is also some phone numbers listed if you have questions.

http://courts.michigan.gov/scao/self...help.htm#start

Keep working at it.

Are you serious? That person caused an accident. Thats what their liability insurance is for. They are liable for the crash. In illinois you were required to carry proof of insurance for that reason. If the cop or investgator or whoever decided it was the other person's fault you should be able to sue them.
